Shigetomi Shoji Co., Ltd. proudly owns and manages “Shigetomi House”, located in Aira City. This property is a remarkable example of Japanese traditional architecture in a delightful, bucolic, park like setting. Traditional Japanese homes and gardens have been disappearing throughout Aira City and preserving these cultural treasures is one of the prime objectives of Shigetomi Shoji Co., Ltd.
“Kominka” refers to traditional Japanese-style homes, especially those built before the war, and “Shigetomi House” is a beautiful example of this historical architecture. These homes, constructed using traditional Japanese construction methods, were designed to exist in harmony within their natural environments. In essence, kominka reflects Japanese local lifestyle and culture in each region and reflects the collective ecological wisdom of the Japanese people. Upon arrival to kominka, you will be embraced by feelings of serenity and harmony as you explore the home from room to room. The garden will welcome you as if this were your hometown kominka. With sakuranamiki (row of cherry trees), bamboo forests, and many broadleaf trees on the premises, you will enjoy splendid seasonal sceneries and explore its natural environment from season to season. Shigetomi Shoji Co., Ltd. manages the property as “Shigetomi Club”, and this kominka and garden are readily available for various ceremonies and events. For information on scheduling and arrangements, please contact our office at info@iwasaki.org Shigetomi Club is committed to preserving Shigetomi House and its beautiful gardens together with its rich history of Japanese traditional living for generations to come. |
